University Hosting Model

A framework for a university-led city forum—not a claim that one already exists.

A university or research institution can be evaluated as a forum host when it has the authority, governance capacity, responsible team and operating resources required for the proposed city-level program. No university is a host, partner or member until the relationship is approved and documented.

Authority

The institution must have internal authority to participate and authorize public association.

Research capacity

The proposed forum should have access to appropriate research, data and analytical capability.

Convening capacity

The host should be able to convene relevant participants without implying mandatory government or industry participation.

Operating commitment

People, governance, budget, facilities and digital capabilities are confirmed for the actual forum scope.

Responsibility architecture

These are proposed role categories for an approved forum. They become binding only through the applicable agreement, institutional approval and operating record.

Host institution

  • • Confirm institutional authority and responsible leadership
  • • Define local governance, stakeholders and forum scope
  • • Provide or coordinate appropriate convening and research capacity
  • • Approve public use of the institution name and forum status

Global City Forums

  • • Provide the private forum framework, operating model and status rules
  • • Support research-agenda, working-group and governance design
  • • Maintain shared platform infrastructure and governed records where activated
  • • Publish only relationships and forum statuses that are authorized and current

Local participants

  • • Participate under the role and scope defined for the forum
  • • Provide evidence, data or practitioner input when authorized
  • • Retain responsibility for their own institutional positions and decisions
  • • Avoid implying endorsement beyond the documented relationship

Commercial structure

Economics are project-specific.

Event revenues, sponsorship, membership, research funding, platform fees, intellectual-property rights and local operating costs should be defined in the actual agreement. Global City Forums does not publish a universal revenue split or imply that a host retains or remits any category by default.

Research & governance

Institutional standards remain explicit.

Academic independence, peer review, publication rules, data ownership, neutrality and use of institutional names should be defined by the host institution and the forum agreement. GCF private status or validation must not be confused with government accreditation or external academic accreditation.
